Special Needs Eye Exam

Pine Creek Vision Clinic cares for patients with a variety of disabilities and with different levels of cognitive aptitude. Any aged patient with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, or anyone with developmental delays receive a comprehensive eye examination and special testing as indicated.

Our clinic welcomes family members as well as teachers, therapists and other primary care providers to the exams to provide a coordinated effort in our patients’ healthcare and lives. We will provide written reports upon request for family members to share as well as fill out any appropriate paperwork in efforts to provide vision services if the patient qualifies.

Comprehensive eye exams are catered to the ability of the patient, as we are equipped with materials for all communicative and cognitive abilities. The clinic sees patients who are non-verbal to verbal, who need additional special testing relating to school and therapy, or just need a little extra time compared to a typical exam environment.

Treatment is dependent on the patient but may include the following: glasses, contact lenses, prism, vision therapy, compensatory strategies, and/or low vision devices.

Who We Are

Pine Creek Vision Clinic is a husband and wife owned practice. Our goal is to provide the best quality eye care for everyone in the family. Drs. Johnston both see patients for comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contacts, but individually have sub-specialties to offer our patients. We strive to make everyone feel welcome, heard and like they are a part of our family here at Pine Creek Vision Clinic.
