Johnston both see patients for comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contacts, but individually have sub-specialties to offer our patients. Our doctors offers full vision examinations and will diagnose and treat an array of eye diseases and conditions to keep your eyes healthy!
Casey Johnston, O.D. was born and raised in Florida where he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University in 2007. Following graduation, he moved to Virginia and worked alongside optometrists and ophthalmologists at Charlottesville Eye Associates. It was here that he discovered his interest in eye care and went on to pursue a doctorate degree in Optometry.
In 2008, the University of Houston, College of Optometry recruited him to their program. During Optometry school he won awards for Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care and for achieving the highest score on the optometry boards. Dr. Johnston graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2012 with a Doctorate of Optometry degree.
Following graduation, he joined a private practice in the greater Houston area where he provided comprehensive eye care to all age ranges. Additional services included specialty contact lenses for conditions such as keratoconus, dry eye management, emergency eye care, surgical co-management, and care for medical eye conditions like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
In 2015, Dr. Johnston took a position at the University of Houston, College of Optometry as a Clinical Assistant Professor. There he served as a clinical attending providing patient care and student education. Clinical responsibilities included comprehensive eye care in the Family Practice department as well as surgical peri-operative care in the Ambulatory Surgical Center. In addition to these duties, he has served as a clinical attending in the Cornea and Contact Lens service as well as the Ocular Diagnostics and Medical Eye service.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities Dr. Johnston guest lectured in the following courses: Geriatrics, Ophthalmic Lasers & Surgery, Ocular Pharmacology. He also has presented continuing education lectures and lectured for the Athletic Training department. Dr. Johnston is very excited to move to Colorado Springs and join Pine Creek Vision Clinic. He looks forward to providing comprehensive and specialty eye care for you and your family.
Dr. Kassaundra Johnston
Kassaundra (Kassie) Johnston, O.D., F.A.A.O was born and raised in Harlingen, TX. Her first job following high school graduation was working as an optometric technician, during which she found her love for eye care. She started toward that goal at Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX where she graduated Magnum Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry. In 2008, she continued her education in Houston, TX where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry (UHCO). Following graduation, she stayed at UHCO to complete a residency in Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation.
After the completion of her residency, she was hired at UHCO as a Clinical Assistant Professor where she served as a clinical attending providing patient care and student education in the following clinics: Specialty Pediatrics and Binocular Vision, Brain Injury Vision Assessment & Rehabilitation Service, and the Family Practice Service. In her first year at UHCO, Dr. Johnston successfully expanded the UHCO Pediatrics service to include a new clinic, for which she was the Director, that specializes in examining teen and adult special needs populations. While practicing at Pine Creek Vision Clinic, Dr. Johnston will continue to provide routine and specialty eye care to the Colorado Springs community. Dr. Johnston has almost ten years of experience working with patients of all ages, ability or disability and looks forward to serving all family members in the community.
Aside from her clinical rotations at UHCO, Dr. Johnston was the consulting optometrist at two inpatient neuro-rehabilitation hospitals. She was responsible for providing consultations for patients who had suffered from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and neuro-degenerative disorders. In addition, she was responsible for overseeing and training residents. To continue in Dr. Wilson’s footsteps, Dr. K. Johnston plans to become credentialed at both Penrose and UC Health Memorial Central hospitals.
Dr. K. Johnston is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association. She has lectured for continuing education programs as well as being the course master for Pediatrics II and Neuro-optometry. She hopes to continue with both local and state lectures once she gets settled in Colorado Springs.
Dr. K. Johnston has had experience in many different clinical settings and is excited to put all her efforts towards a practice that she and her husband can call their own. With the combination of her and her husband’s clinical interests and sub-specialties, as well as, their ability to provide excellent primary care for all ages, they are confident they will continue Dr. Wilson’s legacy at Pine Creek Vision Clinic.
Megyn
Megyn was promoted to office manager in 2022 and has been a part of the Pine Creek Vision team since 2018. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three dachshunds: Sass, Boomer and Scooter. Fun fact: she and her husband are high school sweet hearts.
Emily
Emily has rejoined the practice in 2022 after taking some time for schooling and helping watch her nephew. She assists as a technician part-time and is a great team player around the office. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her free time.
Amanda
Amanda joined our practice in 2022 as a front desk receptionist. With her sales and customer service background, we have plans for her to cross-train throughout the office. Outside of being an excellent addition to our team, she enjoys many outdoor activities including longboarding, snowboarding and taking drives into the mountains. She is a Minnesota native, moving to Colorado with her friend Jennie and her cat, Bonita.
Sam
Sam joined our office in August of 2022. He was born and raised in northern Minnesota. In his free time, he enjoys being active, going to the gym and hanging out with friends. He also practices stand up comedy at a few spots around Colorado Springs.
Zach
Zach joined our team at the end of 2022. He is currently attending school for fashion design. He enjoys being outdoors, coding, and drawing. Though spending most of his life in Colorado, he has also lived in quite a few other states.
